Afternoon Fam, it’s Colin. Your friend that wants you to be better than yesterday.

The essential skill in business—and life—is following up. Keep investing energy into momentum. That’s how you make yourself get ahead in life from where you are now.

When you follow up with people, you make sure momentum is working in your favor rather than against you. People always default to what’s easiest for them, and what’s easiest is to think about you and what you need only when it’s convenient or painful.

Make it painful to ignore you by putting pressure on them to do what you need them to do. Sometimes that means calling a vendor every day until the job is done. It might mean bumping an email up every couple of days or leaving a voicemail with a friend to remind them or keep in touch.

Time is a finite resource. You must create a sense of urgency in your life because that’s how you make things happen.

The more I think about the 2020 “lockdowns” the angrier I get. Hospitals were nowhere near being overwhelmed. The course of the virus was not altered. People giddily lined up for their to-go cocktails, placed their grocery delivery orders, and thought they were saving lives. 1/4
