WHY ARE PEOPLE SURPRISED?!
Every day that goes by, more of this kind of stuff will come out.
🔥 Useful $HIT CORNER 🔥
🗓 On this day in 1889: North Dakota becomes 39th and South Dakota becomes the 40th state → A reminder that the United States is still a young experiment and there is NO GUARANTEE it will last. In fact, if you look at history, the numbers suggest it won’t. Just make sure you’re prepared for whatever that transition/collapse looks like.
🦾 How to be dangerous → Question everything. When you question the people around you, you will see how fragile their perspectives are. Most people have no understanding of base knowledge. So if you ask them why/who/how a few times, you’ll usually stare at a gaping mouth—ugh, I don’t know.
🌞 Health + 🍳 Cooking→ Cobia and tuna steaks are super easy proteins to cook from freezer → fridge → hot pan. Use enough salt and maybe try some coconut aminos to dip and you have a clean, fast protein always available.
🧀 By the FDA definition, cheese products must contain at least 51% cheese. American cheese slices are a "pasteurized prepared cheese product," which is why they are branded as "American singles" instead of "American cheese."
❤️ Relationships: II think you have to suffer heartache to truly understand it. As I look at friends going through the relationship minefield, I’m tempted to offer advice. Then I realized this “advice” feels so painfully obvious because I experienced it first hand… and while I was, nothing you could say to me would have made a difference. That’s a hard realization to have when you realize that any attempt to help is completely meaningless. 🤷♀️
🛀🏻 Plastic shower curtains off-gas chemicals from the heat and steam from the shower. Then you breathe those chemicals in.
☕️ New Yorkers drink 7X more coffee than the rest of Americans. (That number will likely go down due to their vaccine passport tyranny.)
🏕 💰 Being Prepared: Have some Bitcoin in a self-sovereign solution you control. You never know when you’ll need it and need to take it with you.
🛠 Mindmaps (like the one below) are amazing for organizing your thoughts. In a world with unlimited information, the winners are those that can distill complexity into simplicity that’s easy to remember, consume, and think about. More and more work in the modern age is going to be based on curation and mashing things together to create new and unique perspectives. Miro is a cool tool I’ve been messing around with.
💰Get Free Bitcoin from every purchase… for real
The Fold card has impressed me. I’m now using it for everything. Man, I wish I had this a couple of years ago… my Bitcoin rewards from shopping on Amazon alone would be tens of thousands.
It’s a debit card (credit cards coming soon) that gives you rewards back in Bitcoin.
Why is this better than typical reward cards that might give you 1-3% cashback?
Because that’s cash… and cash is a devaluing currency, whereas Bitcoin is an appreciating asset. Over time, the difference in a lesser amount of Bitcoin will completely demolish whatever you can get back in dollars.
I’ve upgraded to the Fold+ card which has a $150 yearly fee. I did the math. It’s so worth it. If you sign up for that, you get $25 off and I get $25 towards my yearly fee. Win-win.
Get your Fold card here today (there’s a free version of the app you can use to earn rewards as well, so sign-up either way).

💰 Bitcoin Corner
Bitcoin is Bitcoin and nothing else is.
Everything else pretends to be.
Did you know you can spin up a fork of Bitcoin in one day with open source code?
It’s no wonder there are so many nonsense coins like this.
Save yourself time and money—buy Bitcoin and only Bitcoin and hold for the long run.
You’ll get rich doing so and you’ll protect yourself from inflation and interfering governments while doing so.

How to think for yourself
“Don’t blindly believe what I say. Don’t believe me because others convince you of my words. Don’t believe anything you see, read, or hear from others, whether of authority, religious teachers or texts.”
—Buddha
Few.
Few truly think for themselves.
Few assimilate everything they see and hear through an objective lens.
Few are aware of their biases and blind spots.
Few are aware of the need to be aware of their awareness.
Let’s say you want to be one of the few that can think for yourself.
How do you actually do that?
Here’s a place to start…
How you start thinking for yourself:
You take in information from an external source.
You mull it around from a distance—meaning you don’t immediately take it in and let it fill you with righteousness. Instead, you consider the words and their implications based on what you currently know and—most importantly—what you don’t know.
You then hang it up in your subconscious as one more data point to consider.
Maybe you think about it when you dig into that topic. And perhaps you mention it in conversation as a supporting point (and not as absolute truth).
Finally, you follow this process forever while never convincing yourself you know much at all.
Like Socrates: know that you know nothing.
So how do you have actual knowledge then?
You study first principles and history.
History can be muddied, but there are some things we can be rather sure of. So stick with the things you probably know for sure—e.g. communism failed multiple times, Fascism and Nazism are probably bad, gravity and physics, so on and so forth.
Then consider the principles of math and physics and combine those with empiricism.
You know it's going to hurt if your hammer misses the nail and lands on your finger. You can be reasonably sure of that.
You know tripping on concrete mid-sprint is probably going to break skin.
You know if you touch that stove… etc.
Finally, develop a long-term mindset and be patient. Set goals and constantly learn. Keep trying and going while constantly reminding yourself that what worked in the past is no guarantee it will work in the future. Reconcile that with the Lindy Effect and with general longer-term thinking.
Over time you’ll build a reasonable base of knowledge that’s useful.
You’ll build your own axioms, principles, and belief system based on the growth mindset and rigorous and constant experimentation.
