🦾 Why are Americans so lonely?
gonna record a pod on today's newsletter. let me know if you like that and i'll keep doing it
Melius Humano,
Why are we so lonely?
This chart explains part of it:
It’s not just our loneliness and lack of community that explains why we’re in a societal “meaning crisis.” It’s also the lack of struggle. The distraction-filled safety bubble/echo chambers that have taken over our bodies and minds.
We don’t have to fend off danger. Our ancestors had to be vigilant. They were in the NOW in every sense of the word. Some hunter-gatherer tribes had no concept of time other than sun up = day and sun down = night.
No idea of months, years, or time. There was no FOMO. No pressure to get shit done. So on and so forth.
And that’s why the data is unanimous that every suited hunter-gatherer is healthier and happier than us today.
This is why the Ancestral Mindset is the most important mental framework for living an awesome life today.
It’s a stretch for some if they’ve never considered these ideas. And the fact that most people have no interest in the past. One likely reason is that they are enamored with the future… what’s next? What’s the new thing? Shiny ball syndrome.
We avoid hard things—difficult conversations. Most don’t say what they need to say.
They ghost you instead of being honest. They beat around the bush instead of getting to the cold, hard truth.
And there’s some merit to this strategy… when you live in a world of snowflakes where most people, in the immortal words of Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men, can’t…
So you're conditioned by people to hold your tongue. To be nice. To not pierce the "safe space" bubble. To care more about other's feelings than your own.
ROFL.
I'm sooo grateful I don't give a fk about any of that. I say that without an ounce of ego. It's not ego at all. It's pure BLISS that I don't have a shred of this mentality in my mind. I am very grateful to be the constitutional I am, even though it proves me to certain things I have to work on (like being more compassionate, patient, and even keel when offering feedback to others—especially my kids).
Which brings up another point. Or the same point again: duality.
Duality is the simple mathematical law that everything is a balance between two poles. Good/evil. Night/day. Thriving/dying. Etc.
And so when it comes to you as a human, you also fall somewhere on a spectrum. You have good/bad habits. Useful/useless behaviors. Mean/nice things to say. So on and so forth.
This is what cancel culture and the woke mind virus don't understand.
Their superiority complex that pretends to be righteous might sound "fair" and "equitable" and whatever, but what is the other side of that overcorrection?
If you study history (communism and the like), you'll see that the "Great Good" and altruistic motivations to make things fair come at the expense of PURE EVIL.
I won't go into a long diatribe about why this happens (violation of nature, its forcing, human nature, corruption, etc.).
Instead, here are a few takeaways:
The most important thing in your life will be your relationships, so consider not giving them up in exchange for work, money, or convenience.
The hardest thing to achieve is finding what Aristotle called "The Golden Mean." Think of it as the perfect spot in the middle of both ends of the spectrum. Once you achieve it, you have to maintain it. This applies to everything—money, relationships, solitude, community, rest, work, fitness, health, etc.
To understand where you (and humanity) are going, you must understand the past. Study it. INternalize it. Then, use those lessons to live better now.
Life is short, then you're dead. Try making it worth something.
Study first principles. Understand the basics of money, economics, inflation, psychology, philosophy, history, madness of crowds, mimetic theory, status games, engineering, and math. The more you understand the basics of how things work, the better your life is because you make better decisions and mistakes—because you learn from them.
A happy life requires effort. It is not an accident. If you don’t consciously steer the rudder, you’ll end up no where.

Wild-Approved Practitioners (intros being made this week for those that requested!)
At Wild Foods, we're big on opting out of Big Pharma, Big Food, and Big Medical as much as possible.
We also recommend the "do it yourself" program as much as possible since most of health comes down to your lifestyle habits. And that works for most people most of the time.
Sometimes it's not enough. And that's when one should get help from someone specializing in non-big-pharma, non-big-medical solutions.
Since our Mission at Wild is to help you get and stay as healthy as possible, we've decided to team up with some Wild-approved holistic practitioners specializing in specific root-cause modalities and solutions.
The plan is grow a small network of practitioners that we rigorously vet and provide that to you as a trusted resource.
We'll be sharing more free content from this network and related helpful health-focused content through this list and our new Wild Practitioner list.
If you're interested in matching with a practitioner now, you can fill out this short form and I will personally review it with one of the few practitioners we are talking to.
If you want to join the separate email list where we will share weekly content, complete this form.
If you've worked with someone in the past that has the same Wild values, feel free to send them to us!
Weight lifting is the fountain of youth
Lifting weights is like bathing in the foundation of youth. It's the most critical thing you can do to slow aging.
If the benefits of exercise could be put into a pill, it would be the best-selling pharmaceutical of all time.
Fortunately, you have gravity, our body, and the ground, all you need to take advantage of this miracle modality.
Push-ups, sit-ups, yoga poses, planks, carrying heavy stuff, stairs, sprints, rows, runs, swims, etc.
Don't make New Year's Resolutions.
Make a resolution NOW to get some movement in today, tomorrow, the day after that, and so on forever.

Canceling people
Isn't it funny how fickle the human mind is?
And even more so when in groups (madness of crowds).
The idea that someone says something you don't like or that you think is offensive to you to someone else and that they deserve to be forever condemned and their life ruined... what a farce.
What an absolute and utter disgrace to all that is good in our species.
It's sickening. We are all prone to do it because we have tribalistic tendencies in our psyche. We came from nature. We are nature.
And we have to use our intellect and reason to fight back our primal instincts.
Imagine if you broke up your family because your husband or wife said something mean.
Imagine if you disowned your children for the same. Or because they did something you don't like.
So on and so forth.
Complete and utter nonsense.
