Processed food is the new smoking.
They use the same tactics as the cigarette companies.
You're competing with billion-dollar corporations, with food and flavor scientists spending all of their time creating textures, flavors, and food products designed to trick your brain and addict you.
Addicts make great customers after all... all that repeat revenue.
What you're competing with specifically is preparing and making your own food that your brain will enjoy compared to those engineered dopamine-rewarding products.
You need to figure out how to make food yourself to be healthy.
Restaurants will not save you. Packaged food won't either.
A private chef might save you if you have the $.
A meal prep service could help.
Moving to another country without industrialized food and eating only local ingredients will save you.
But are you going to do that?
What's left is what Thoreau was so big on back in the day: self-reliance.
You have to rely on yourself—your skills and time investment.
Learning to cook and make brain-grading foods from clean, pure ingredients is the most IMPORTANT THING YOU WILL DO IN YOUR LIFE.
If you live in America and eat any combination of a Standard American Diet, that is.
I'm not going to sugarcoat any of this. This stuff is hard, and it takes time and money.
And I know how to do it all already!
But I go through the same ups and downs. I'm motivated to meal prep and cook my meals at home for a period of time, but then the sheer amount of time and labor required has me defaulting to easier options.
I'm coming out of one of those eating-out peaks after 45 days of travel. Now, I'm motivated to eat 100% of my meals at home, which will require meal prep and a little planning.
I made a bunch of garlic, coconut aminos, and ginger-sliced steak last night and dispersed it into a few containers. It was such a good feeling. I then got this Yeti lunchbox, which is overpriced but apparently the best for cold retention, so I can start taking lunch each day.
