Last night, I realized I want to be a philosopher… and to teach.
I think my insane drive to build businesses is because deep down I hope I'll be able to spend the majority of my days writing, reading, thinking, speaking, podcasting, and YouTubing.
I’ve no desire to pursue the hedonic treadmill the way most do with material items like cars, boats, and travel.
I long ago realized that, so that’s good and will save me a lot of time and money having to figure it out the hard way.
When I visualize myself with buckets of abundance, I think about what I can build that will make a lasting difference. What can I write or create that will make the world better now and in the future?
I know I don’t want to become a monk or fade into wealthy obscurity.
So the question is, what does the world need?
We have a meaning crisis in our culture. And everything touches it. Digital technology, smartphones, porn, on-demand industrialized food, bright led lights in homes and offices, on and on the list of physical and mental stressors in the modern environment goes.
I’ve been writing and thinking about this for the last couple of years. But because of all the business and moving and packing up and driving across the country, I’ve not given this problem the attention it deserves.
So back to it.
