Let me tell you about my current Honey Diet experiment.
My day goes like this: eat fruit / juice until noon (no protein or fat), then fast until dinner.
Dinner is protein + moderate-to-low amount of fat and sometimes some starch (rice).
This idea of a "sugar fast" and just eating sugar in general is interesting and challenges a lot of what we've been told about sugar over the last 20-30 years.
Many of the Ray Peat advocates have been defending sugar for a while now.
Then you see famous carnivores like Paul Saladino adding fruit and honey to his diet after hitting hormonal issues on a meat/fat/protein-only eating plan.
The big AHA for me was the importance of not consuming high amounts of carbs and fat together at the same time.
If you're going to eat fat, keep it with protein or by itself.
If you're going to eat sugar, eat it alone and sometimes with protein.
For most people, simply avoiding large meals of carbs, protein, and fat together would be enough to control body weight (and probably lose weight) effortlessly.
Nearly all the delicious stuff and restaurant food is a huge MIX of CARBS AND FAT TOGETHER. Isn't that curious?
We're all going to hear a lot more about this diet soon. It's already picking up on X and YouTube.
Like all things, the "truth" (if you can call it that) is in the details.
There is a myriad of nuance, and a lot more experimentation and anecdotes need to come out as we learn more about this nutritional tool.
For me, I easily fast all day until dinner, and then I overeat for the rest of the day and into the night. I then wake up in the middle of the night to eat because my body is in a state of deficit and is craving more to maintain its energy levels.
This is not ideal because when I'm half asleep, I have essentially zero self-control over my food choices. It's why we lock up all the chocolate in a clear box that only my wife has the code to. #controlyourenviornment
By adding sugar in the morning, I give my body fuel while increasing my total daily calories, hoping that this will break the routine of waking up to eat.
The one thing I'm noticing is that I'm not eating enough sugar or fruit in the morning.
I make juice with electrolytes and often add a tablespoon of honey, but it still ends up being not many calories. So I've been experimenting with dried mango, taking it with me to eat while driving to work.
I generally feel good about this eating routine and am losing weight.
The jury is still out on whether this will become a long-term way of eating or just a tool for weight loss.
P. S. → Hit a bit of a loss plateau a few weeks in. I think I need to go much lower fat / lower carb at night when i break the fast. + adding in more walking and trying to eat a bit more in the morning. I’ve been defaulting to a cup of juice with some sweetened electrolytes in it and not much else. It seems adding more fruit in the morning can actually rev up metabolism. My problem is I have so little hunger for anything in the morning.

Communication is a huge issue in relationships. Most of the time we’re saying the right thing the wrong way. Here are some examples of trying to solve that.

Instead of:
"You never listen in meetings. You’re so disrespectful."
Try:
"In the last two meetings, when I started sharing, I noticed you began talking over me.
I felt frustrated and dismissed.
I need to feel heard and respected during team discussions.
Would you be willing to wait until I finish speaking before adding your thoughts?"
🔹 With a Partner
Instead of:
"You don’t care about me—you’re always late."
Try:
"When you arrived 30 minutes after we agreed, I felt sad and unimportant.
I value dependability and shared time.
Can we talk about how we might plan our meetups more reliably?"
🔹 Parenting
Instead of:
"Stop yelling! You're being rude!"
Try:
"I hear you raising your voice and using strong words.
I feel overwhelmed and concerned.
I want us to talk calmly so we can understand each other better.
Can you take a deep breath and try again with a quieter voice?"
🔹 Friendship Disagreement
Instead of:
"You're always flaking. I can’t count on you."
Try:
"When you canceled our plans last minute, I felt disappointed.
I value reliability and quality time with friends.
Would you be open to letting me know earlier if you need to reschedule?"
🔹 Giving Feedback
Instead of:
"That was a terrible presentation."
Try:
"I noticed the presentation had a lot of information but moved very quickly.
I felt a bit lost trying to keep up.
I need clarity and pacing to fully engage with the material.
Would you consider breaking the content into smaller sections next time?"
