Better Human, July 25
Hand-built underground swimming pool, getting sick is a gift, freedom, first hand knowledge, and why we think we know what we know
Dear Human,
Consider for a second how you come to believe what you believe.
Did you hear it from someone else?
Did you read a book?
Did your parents drill it into your head growing up?
Or your teachers? Professors? Mentors?
Now consider how few things you talk about, maybe from the political realm, and ask yourself one very simple question:
Did I see it myself?
Did you perform an experiment on yourself or in a lab?
Have you actually physically seen the “THING/EVENT/VIRUS”?
Few of us have ever seen the things we talk about.
If we’re lucky, we’ve studied history, physics, math, and applied some first principles thinking to come as close to the truth as possible.
Unfortunately, that’s a very small percentage of the population that even makes the attempt.
So the dialogue becomes whatever the mainstream media and the government decide.
Then millions—even billions—of humans go around believing things they have ZERO FIRST-HAND knowledge of.
And few do the hard work to dive in and try to understand.
Let’s now assume you want to save yourself time and don’t necessarily want to do the hard work. What can you do then?
Here are some useful heuristics you can use to save yourself time:
Become a skeptic of everything and everyone (especially yourself)
Take whatever the mainstream says and go to the opposite… you’ll likely find the truth.
Ask who benefits?
Do governments get more power by keeping you afraid and relying on them?
Does the mainstream media get more views if their content is sensationalist and fear-mongering?
Does Big Pharma make money if everyone takes their vaccines?
Do sick people or healthy people take pharmaceuticals and buy processed food?
So on and so forth.
What we need as a species—and not just Americans—is to become LESS DOGMATIC, LESS TRIABLISTIC, and MORE SKEPTICAL of the powerful that benefit from us doing the opposite.
We need to realize that the truth always comes with nuance and that governments should be as small as possible and intervene as little as possible in citizen’s lives.
And that every person has equal opportunity, not equal outcome.
And finally, that freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, and personal property rights are the bedrock of human flourishing and what made America great thus far.
If there’s something to be dogmatic about, it should be the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
If we keep on down this path of division, fear, and power in the hands of a few that benefit from keeping us more afraid, sick, and powerless, then we are very likely to blow ourselves up in the not-too-distant future.
More and more we're negating the validity of first-hand experience of people from other countries and other cultures... whether it's on TV, the Internet, mobile phones or whatever - the world system we live in so values second-hand information.

Never Forget: Women didn’t vote before 1920
It so boggles my mind that people give any trust whatsoever to the government when any history book will show its long list of abuses and usurpations.

Attention

Action
“Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.”
-Dale Carnegie
This is simply Amazing
Safety
Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety
-Ben Franklin
Perhaps if we still lived on the frontier or in the Wild West there would be some legitimate concerns with safety.
But that’s not the world we live in.
We live in the safest environment in the history of mankind.
People die today mostly from diseases of abundance, not from trauma or contagious disease.
And Yes, contrary to what the MSM would have you believe, more people die every day to heart disease, cancer, and other lifestyle-related diseases than any Boogey virus. And the numbers are not even close.
You are more likely to get struck by lightning on a sunny day than be killed by a terrorist. But how hard was the terrorism fear after 9/11?
The government and MSM know they can’t make people what to think but they certainly can decide what people think about.
Fear is a terrible master. Don’t let it think for you.
What will the future think about us?
I think future historians will look back at the covid mania as the time that modern humans split into two species:
Human 1.0 Accept what the media/gov/celebrities tell them and devolve accordingly
Human 2.0 critically thinks, finds truth, and then outperforms 1.0 to win
Change is the only constant
Stop trying to be perfect or to avoid mistakes… you are holding yourself back
"Trying to solve a problem before being taught the solution leads to better learning, even when errors are made in the attempt."

The boys got a bug. Now Allison and I have it. Getting sick is the most annoying gift you get. It reminds you how AWESOME it is to not be sick 99.9% of the time.
Everything else in life is just BONUS if you aren’t sick.
This is why health is everything.
EVERYTHING.
“Research shows” is a meaningless statement
Most research findings cannot be replicated. The majority of research, actually.
This is a HUGE problem.
If you can’t replicate a study, and easily at that, then the data from the study is highly suspect.
And a lot of popular research is based on studies that other researchers have not been able to replicate.
Social media is…
making you unhappy
Humans are…
capable of amazing acts of empathy and brutal savagery.
This kind of drivel creates divide and is Anti-American
This pro-vaccine, pro-shaming, pro-political bullshit is disgusting.
What about lifestyle?
Nutrition?
Sleep?
Sunlight?
This kind of toxic vitriol is a prime example of just how broken our society is.
We’ve detached from personal responsibility and now the masses believe they have a right to tell other citizens how to live so that they can feel “safe” with their completely flawed, unscientific worldview.
Availability Bias
The availability bias is the human tendency to think that examples of things that come readily to mind are more representative than is actually the case.
