Something I Improved This Week


We are living out of Airbnbs for the time being as we find a new place in Austin.

The only place we could find is a 2-bedroom in the middle of student housing right near the University of Texas.

Just last night, a group of 8 or so loud humans checked-in to the unit a floor above us.

They then proceeded to move furniture around for 3 hours. I don’t even get how people can make so much noise, but whatever.

I didn’t call anyone to complain. Instead, I decided I wanted to go somewhere else, so we checked out a couple of days early and found a new place in a better, quieter area of town.

Situations like this remind me of how much I value my solitude and tranquility.

I’ve decided that The Better Mind program will be a course access product for now with a weekly Q/A call and community back-end.

Later on, as I acquire more student feedback and user data, I’ll start the 8-week coaching program that follows the course curriculum.

For now, I’m going to keep building the core modules to be the best they can be. I have a long-term vision for this and am in no rush.

A Big Idea

Remove self-conflict

I used to feel guilty if I didn’t work.

I used to feel guilty when I missed a workout.

And while I still feel these pangs of self-conflict, they are less intense and pass faster than they used to.

I think a bit of self-conflict is good since it keeps you on your game and moving towards your goals.

The problem is how we create unnecessary suffering by obsessing over the past.

So when I have a cheat meal—like last night—I feel grateful for the flavor high, and I accept it as done. I then focus on my next meal and returning to my routine.

If I miss a work session, I take it as a chance to have space and take a break.
